Mircea Dumitrescu, aged only 18 years old, is one of the most promising violin talents of Romania. He has so far won over 50 first place prizes including 15 internationals, five major prizes with trophies and four special awards. The Romanian Government awarded him the "Diploma of Excellence" for outstanding performances. He participated in several editions of such international competitions as the "Alice Bel Colle" contest, Acqui Terme – Italy, the international contest "Giovani Talenti", San Bartolomeo al Mare – Italy, the international contest "Vittoria Caffa Righetti", Cortemilia – Italy and Young Competition Talents Orchestra, in Barlassina, Italy. His performance includes on-going concerts on prestigious stages both in Romania and abroad.
In 2014 he attended the fourteenth edition of the George Enescu International Competition, the most important competition of its kind in Romania, where he was also on the podium, this time with a silver medal at the 2015 edition. 2015 debuted with the first prize won by Mircea at the National Olympiad in Music, country stage, in his age category. This successful career continued with the first prize awarded to the violinist at the “Modest Iftinchi” National Violin Competition.
Tiberiu Soare, ambassador of Ciprian Marica Foundation, nominated Mircea Dumitrescu for the scholarship. The conductor shared with us his respect and affection for Mircea’s exceptional talent and his high chances of having a successful international career. Tiberiu Soare often invited Mircea as a violin soloist in his concerts with the orchestra. This helped Mircea a lot with his on-scene experience, which is so necessary for a soloist. Soare also notices that Mircea’s grandmother knows his entire musical repertoire by heart, holding her breath every time she knows a more difficult part is next.
Mircea's grandmother managed, with great sacrifices, to support his study costs and other associated costs. Although he is lucky enough to have by his side this extraordinary lady who manages to support all five family members, Mircea also needs the support of the foundation. Performance in music requires substantial investments. Violin maintenance or study hours with a master are important steps for Mircea’s future career. Moreover, many different courses and travel expenses for contest all around the country and abroad require constant budget allocation. Therefore, Ciprian Marica Foundation scholarship will be a precious ally in the next years.
